ABOUT FROSIO
FROSIO (The Norwegian Professional Council for Education and Certification of Inspectors for Surface Treatment and Insulation) is a leading organization established in 1986 to enhance quality standards in surface treatment and insulation through inspector certification.
Their certification scheme is internationally recognized and often specified in various industry standards and specifications.
The certification process involves an 80-hour course approved by FROSIO, followed by both theoretical and practical examinations.
Candidates must also document relevant experience to achieve certification at one of three levels (see below).
FROSIO CERTIFICATE LEVELS
Level I (White Certificate)
For candidates with no or limited relevant experience.
Level II (Green Certificate)
Requires at least two years of relevant experience.
Level III (Red Certificate)
Requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience, including at least two years of documented inspection experience.
FROSIO Surface Treatment details
At Inspection Works, we are proud to offer the FROSIO Surface Treatment Course, designed to prepare inspectors for the demanding field of surface treatment and corrosion protection. This internationally recognized course adheres to the FROSIO Scheme for Surface Treatment, ensuring comprehensive training and certification at the highest standards. Our hybrid learning solution offers E-learning from wherever, when it suits you, and a short, but intense week in classroom, filled with repetition from the E-learning, discussions, casework and practical use of equipment. This way, you need less time away from home and work duties.
What We Offer:
Instant Access to Learning Materials: Once registered, participants gain immediate access to our newly developed, but well tested E-learning platform. The E-learning includes articles, videos, quizzes and problem solving, designed to prepare the students for the classroom week. Online learning allows for flexible preparation when and where it suits you.
Intensive Classroom Training: The course includes a focused week of in-person learning, led by experienced instructors with deep industry expertise. In the classroom we spend a lot of time on repetition from the E-learning, we have a whole day learning about the practical work as an inspector, using test methods and relevant instruments. We also have problem solving and group cases, focusing on preparing everyone for the examination and life as a FROSIO-inspector.
Exam and Certification: The final day of the course is dedicated to the FROSIO certification exam, paving the way for participants to become certified surface treatment inspectors. The exam consists of 4 hours theoretical exam and 4 hours practical. Candidates need 2/3 of the points to pass, and need to pass both practical and theoretical exam to gain the certificate. FROSIO takes care of the level on the certificates, after examination is finished.
Language: The E-learning is always available in English, Norwegian, Swedish or Finnish language. Classroom language differs between English and Norwegian for different courses. Exams can be offered in Norwegian, Swedish, English and Finnish, but always make sure to get this confirmed with us, prior to course start.

FROSIO Insulation details
Inspection Works also proudly offers the FROSIO Insulation Courses, equipping professionals with the expertise required for insulation inspection and quality assurance. This course adheres to the FROSIO Scheme for Insulation, ensuring participants gain industry-relevant knowledge and a globally recognized certification.
Course Content The FROSIO Insulation Course dives deep into the critical aspects of insulation systems, including:
Thermal and Acoustic Insulation Fundamentals: Understanding insulation principles and their application in various industrial environments.
Materials and Systems: Coverage of insulation materials, including cellular, fibrous, and reflective types, and their respective applications.
Design and Installation Standards: International standards and best practices for insulation design and application.
Inspection Techniques: Training in modern inspection tools and methods for assessing insulation performance and compliance.
Corrosion Theory and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI): Identifying, preventing, and mitigating the risks associated with CUI.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensuring safe and environmentally conscious practices during insulation work.
The course finishes with the FROSIO examination on the last day of the course. 4 hours theoretical and 4 hours of practical exam. Don´t worry - we´ll make sure you are well prepared!
Hybrid vs 100% Classroom
Choosing Your Training Format
Inspection Works offers both hybrid courses (e-learning combined with 4-5 days in the classroom) and 100% classroom-based courses, catering to the diverse needs of our participants.
Hybrid Courses:
Our hybrid format provides unmatched flexibility, allowing participants to begin their learning journey immediately through our e-learning platform. The online modules enable self-paced preparation, which means you can learn at your own speed and revisit topics as needed. The classroom days are focused on hands-on training, group discussions, and in-depth reviews, ensuring you’re fully prepared for the final certification exam.
100% Classroom Courses:
For those who prefer a fully immersive learning experience, our classroom courses take place exclusively in Bergen in Norwegian language. These courses span 9 days for the Surface Treatment program and 8 days for the Insulation program. With a structured schedule and real-time interaction with instructors and peers, participants receive comprehensive, hands-on training from start to finish.
While both formats lead to the same certification and quality of training, the hybrid option is ideal for those balancing professional and family commitments or seeking more control over their learning pace.
